Undesigning the Bath by Leonard Koren. Blunk Books has reissued Undesigning the Bath, in collaboration with the original author, Leonard Koren. In the quarter century since its publication, and long since out of print, Undesigning the Bath has accrued a devoted following amongst designers and artists. The book presented a novel idea, coming from an artist and designer: that design is, in some fundamental ways, antithetical to the essential bathing experience. It was the culmination of a many-decade interest of Koren’s, who created bath-related events, unusual bathing environments, and paper works about bathing, including the avant-garde WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing, from 1976–81.

Paperback.

The JB Blunk Estate preserves and advances the work of the late artist JB Blunk, through exhibitions and publications, and by maintaining the Blunk House, his iconic hand-built home in Inverness, California. Working primarily in wood and ceramic, artist James Blain Blunk (1926–2002) developed a distinct style that drew upon the Japanese principle of directness as well as an unfaltering reverence for the qualities of natural materials. Taking archetypal forms and translating them instinctively through raw, salvaged materials, Blunk produced a body of work that represents an innate expression of, and conversation with, nature.
