Sommer is a shop of considered wares based in Hayes Valley, San Francisco. We are seeking a friendly & accountable Retail Associate to bring an element of hospitality and product expertise to our storefront. The Associate will be responsible for representing Sommer’s brand and our partners, engaging with customers, assisting with sales/check out, as well as general store operations. The ideal candidate is excited to be a part of a small team and available to work at least 2-3 days or up to 4-5 days per week, including Saturdays and Sundays. This is an hourly position with room to grow.
Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales:
- Greeting customers and acting as a passionate point person for our shop
- Answering questions and providing assistance with thoughtful knowledge of our products
- Checking out customers, wrapping orders, and assisting with returns/exchanges/rentals
- Supporting daily and monthly sales goals
Product Knowledge:
- Established understanding of Sommer’s product range and brand stories
- Ongoing learning about new arrivals as Sommer’s collection evolves
- Passion for sharing knowledge with customers and underlying interest in design, fashion and interiors
Operations:
- Picking & packing online orders
- Stocking/tagging new inventory; participation in periodic inventory counts
- Merchandising and tidying displays
- Ensuring sufficient supplies/materials inventory
- Opening and closing the store
- General store maintenance/cleaning
- Working occasional in-store pop ups and events
Qualifications
- 1+ years of proven experience in retail or similar sales position
- Friendly & warm disposition; natural people person
- Reliable, honest and trustworthy
- Excellent communication skills
- You have a can-do attitude and enjoy working independently
- You take responsibility and ownership of your work
- You enjoy combining commerce with meaning
- Appreciation for art, design & photography
- Knowledge of Shopify and/or Shipstation is a plus
