Sommer is a shop of considered wares based in San Francisco, CA. We are seeking a friendly & accountable Retail Associate to bring an element of hospitality and expertise to our storefront in Bernal Heights. The Associate will be responsible for engaging with customers, assisting with sales/check out, as well as general store operations. This is a part time weekend position with a commitment of 6-12+ hours per week to start, primarily working Saturdays-Sundays and some Fridays as needed.

Responsibilities

Customer Service:

  • Greeting customers and acting as a point person for our shop
  • Answering questions and providing assistance with thoughtful knowledge of our products
  • Checking out customers, wrapping orders, and assisting with returns/exchanges/rentals

Operations:

  • Picking & packing online orders
  • Stocking/tagging new inventory 
  • Merchandising the storefront; ensuring proper displays
  • Assistance in periodic inventory counts
  • Opening and closing the store
  • General store maintenance/cleaning
  • Working occasional in-store pop ups and events

Qualifications

  • Ability to regularly work weekends (Saturday-Sunday, 12-6pm) and ability to cover occasional Fridays as needed.
  • 1+ years of proven experience in retail or similar customer service 
  • Friendly & warm disposition; natural people person
  • Reliable, honest and trustworthy
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • You have a can-do attitude and enjoy working independently
  • You take responsibility and ownership of your work
  • Sensibility towards art, design & photography
  • You enjoy combining commerce with meaning 
  • Knowledge of Shopify POS system is a plus
