Maha Alavi is a Canadian industrial designer currently based in Tokyo, Japan. Informed by prior training in philosophy and psychology, Alavi’s practice aims to explore concepts of connection and creation. Fascinated by the influence of objects on people as well as the construction of cultural archetypes through design, she aims to achieve detail and balance in her designs. All pieces are casted by a family-run foundry in South Asia, using recycled metals and minimal raw material waste.
